Mustard Crop PictureThe Regional Sustainable Model for Biodiesel Production has been developed by AACT with support from the Rural Industries and Development Corporation (RIRDC).
This model conceptualises how biodiesel feedstock can be grown locally and converted cooperatively to biodiesel in a Local Community Enterprise Hub and used on farm to fuel the farm plant machinery including tractors, trucks and other vehicles. Further, the Model demonstrates that a sustainable biodiesel industry based on good economics can be developed on a regional basis and deliver considerable benefits to the grower, the region and the environment. In so doing, we intend that agriculture will gain entry into the energy industry while improving regional economic and environmental sustainability at a time where both are uncertain
The Regional Sustainable Model:
· Is based on grower groups, many of which exist already.
· Demonstrates improvements in both economic and environmental sustainability to growers.
· Improves regional economies.
· Provides for a reduction in greenhouse emissions thus moving the farm carbon balance in a positive direction.
This concept is outlined in the enclosed sheet and is detailed in the report which will be available upon registering for workshop.
This is an Australia wide project.
Workshop Aims
The Regional Sustainable Model for Biodiesel Production has the potential to benefit and affect many in the agricultural sector. At the workshop we hope to move forward with the project with wider community involvement from those with an interest in the proposal.
Thus, the aims of this workshop are largely threefold;
· To present the Regional Sustainable Model for Biodiesel Production as it currently stands.
· To gain invaluable input from relevant parties into the final stage of development of the model.
· Move forward with the concept to turn a conceptual model into a working model.
In order to gain the most from this workshop and be in a position to have a useful input we suggest that you prepare for it by reading the following papers.
